How to Import a 3D Model

You can import your favorite 3D models to use in the Builder!
Three file formats are currently supported for model imports: OBJ, FBX, and GLTF.

General Model Import Tips:

  • FBX or GLTF models are recommended over OBJ models. They contain more information, and are more consistent compared to OBJ models.

  • When designing a model in Blender, watch the number of vertices/faces and optimize if possible. Also avoid overlapping faces which could cause flickering (z-fighting) in the Builder.

  • Rendering backfaces for imported models is not supported yet, due to that fact that it is more costly in terms of performance to render two faces. If the model you are import appears to be missing faces , it is most likely due to the fact that it is double-faced.

  • For best performance on Quest headsets, we recommend to generally keep imported models below 50k vertices.
